Our Story

The establishment of ‘The Prayer Mat’ was unintentional. During Haj 2017, and my pilgrimage to Mecca, the holiest city for Muslims, and specifically when it was time to pray I had to kneel on a hard marble surface. I found some difficulties, such as many other people around me, that’s when I came up with the idea of designing a prayer mat. As our lifestyles change, I thought it was time to modify the prayer rugs to cater to the needs and health concerns of the 21st century, often related to the comfort of our knees and back, that provides better support while praying.

When high-quality material and creativity come together, we set up The Prayer Mat as a modern yet traditional alternative featuring different floral & geometric designs, so they can be customized in any color to merge in with any environment. The more effort put into a rug, the more valuable it can be.

Each individual mat design has been handpicked by the company’s founder herself- it is her way of sharing the beauty of the world with you in a personal and convenient way.

Every mat is one of a kind and has many stories to tell- what inspired me, where was it made and how.

It is our ambition to being the local producers of such an essential found in every Muslims home.
